About the Artist
Art has always been a passion of mine, ever since I was big enough to use an old piano bench as my drawing table.
Early experiences helped expand my love of drawing into a love of painting and teaching.
I graduated from studying art education K-12, and have taught students of all ages how to find joy through their own creations. It is my strong belief that education is not complete without the visual arts, and that every student can be successful in their art endeavors. As human beings, our yearning to create is a natural force that deserves to be cultivated and developed.
Encouraging and teaching in a variety of art mediums has influenced how I see the world. There is great beauty around us. My desire in capturing everyday scenes is to emphasize the interesting colors, the contrasts between light and shadow, and the charm of a view.
I primarily use watercolor and pencil, and occasionally acrylic or gouache. Over time, my work has evolved into studies of color with art pieces that are spontaneous, joyful, intentional, and hopefully full of light.
When not in my studio, I stay engaged as a Signature Member of the Colorado Watercolor Society and other local art organizations. As a member of our State Art Education Society I feel giving back and participating in the art community is critical. Teaching and exhibiting is one of my goals as a successful artist.
“Art is a collaboration between God and the artist, and the less the artist does the better.” —Andre Gide
Through my work, I invite you to pause with me and enjoy the simple, everyday beauty around us, and come away with a deeper appreciation of God’s creations.
I’ve been honored to have my artwork exhibited publicly at institutions such as the Littleton Town Hall Arts Center, Shepherd University, Buell Theater, Jefferson County Library, IBM headquarters, and in private collections domestically and abroad.
